Joanne is passionate about working with people who experience mood and depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, stress, change and transitional periods, ADHD, ASD, substance use, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, confidence and low self-esteem issues, trauma, and personality disorders, in particular Borderline Personality Disorder.
Joanne will teach you skills and helpful coping mechanisms to support and empower you to find peace, acceptance and belonging in the world you live in, along with helping you to see possibilities so that you can live a life that is worth smiling about.
Joanne is trained and experienced in a range of therapies and will tailor her approach to suit what is needed for the client she is working with. The therapies she uses are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Informed Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Not only does Joanne work with clients 1:1 but she is also a DBT group skills trainer and Board Approved Psychologist. So you just might see her in a variety of circumstances around our practice and on our socials!
As a Board Approved Psychologist she supports Provisional Psychologists to gain their full registration as a Registered Psychologist. Joanne remembers what it was like back in the day when she was going through her own training and she prides herself in giving back to train, coach and support our future Psychologists!
When Joanne isn’t at the practice you will probably find her checking out a new café in the inner west in pursuit of the most tastiest pastry/brownie/donut, exploring a new park with her kid, building sandcastles or going for a dip at the beach.
